Samenvatting
In order to properly determine the civil engineering scope of a tunnel renovation, better insight is needed into the condition and transformation behavior of tunnel structures. Here tunnels need to be monitored in a different way so that more and better data is available. For this purpose, the COB network has developed a method for monitoring sinking tunnels.
The method is a monitoring system, in a focused process of data analysis, data interpretation, performing a tunnel condition assessment, and predicting the future. The manual is intended to support decision-making about monitoring: what should be monitored, in what way, and with what frequency? This involves collecting data for scientific research (by Ph.D., PD, and MSc students). The results of these studies provide a better foundation for the behavior of tunnels and increase the usability of the method for maintenance purposes.
This document concerns version 1 of the method. The scope is limited to the deformation(s) of the construction(s) and joints of immersed tunnels, considering both new construction and tunnels. Expansion with data processing, lessons learned, and other tunnel types is planned for subsequent versions.
