2nd International Symposium Service Life Design for Underground Structures

The scope of this conference on the service life design is extended from underground structure to infrastructure. Following the success of the 1st International Workshop on Service Life Design for Underground Structures held in Tongji University, Shanghai, 2006, the 2nd conference on this topic is scheduled at 4-6 October 2010, in Delft, The Netherlands. The scope of this conference on the service life design is extended from underground structure to infrastructure.
In the past few years more and more attention has been devoted to the safety and serviceability as well as durability and sustainability of structures. Meanwhile there are intensive research and development activities going on, e.g. environmental attack, materials properties, deterioration mechanisms, geometric- and structural design, execution aspect and maintenance. Furthermore codes and standards on service life design are being discussed and partially established world wide. It is now time to present a focused picture of the current status and future trends in this field, including theory, practice and education. The aim of the symposium is thus to provide a forum to researchers and practitioners for presenting the newest findings and to discuss their new ideas on service life design and serviceability of infrastructural works, effectiveness of service life design methods and experiences from the practice gained up to now. The organizers encourage researchers and engineers, to submit an abstract related to the service life design and serviceability of infrastructures in general and concrete structures in particular.
